Stone Skipping is the third episode of FLCL: Progressive and ninth of the FLCL series.

Synopsis[]

Crazy things happen during Hidomi's NO activation, and she is now left with a cheerful and happy personality, which is the total opposite of her real self. The only way to bring her back to normal is to destroy the cables of the giant iron.

Summary[]

About three months after the last incident, Haruko takes some of her class to the beach. Hidomi finds herself dragged along with Jinyu protecting her from Haruko. Meanwhile, Ko Ide and Marco call Goro's bluff, hoping to see his girlfriend. He takes them to a shy girl named Aiko, holding a flowerpot. As Jinyu and Haruko talk about their goals, the kids enjoy their time on the beach, playing volleyball and building a sandcastle. Later, Hidomi is missing from the beach. Goro takes Aiko back to the train station, where she drops her act and reveals herself as Goro's paid date, leaving the flower pot with Goro in exchange for his money while Marco spots them from nearby.

Meanwhile, Ko finds Hidomi on an operating table as Haruko tries to make her overflow. Seeing her half naked body makes Ko overflow instead, as a giant blob monster erupts from his forehead. During the ensuing battle, Hidomi accidentally kisses Ko's chest, causing a large floating junk pile to emerge from her body. With Jinyu's help, Ko frees Hidomi from the junk, but Haruko convinces him to try taking off her headphones. Instead, the headphones lock into Hidomi's head as the pile of junk falls back to Earth. Being unable to use Hidomi's power, Haruko reluctantly decides to team up with Jinyu to fight Medical Mechanica.
